Maintenance Guide: Key Points and Recommendations for Daily Generator Set Inspections
In order to ensure the safe, stable and efficient operation of the generator set, daily patrol inspection is the key link to prevent failures and extend equipment life. The following are the main points and suggestions for daily patrol inspection:
1、 Patrol inspection frequency
During normal operation: at least once a day;
Under high load or severe environmental conditions: increase patrol inspection frequency.
2、 Main patrol inspection contents
Appearance and cleaning
Check the unit shell for damage, corrosion or leakage;
Clean the surface dust, oil stain and surrounding sundries, and keep good ventilation.
Fluid status
Check whether the oil level is within the normal range and whether the oil quality is clear without emulsification;
Check the coolant level and color to ensure there is no leakage;
The fuel tank oil level is sufficient, and the pipeline is free of leakage and aging.
Battery and electrical system
The battery voltage is normal (usually ≥ 12V or 24V), and the wiring is firm without corrosion;
The control panel has no alarm information, and the instrument reading is normal;
The grounding wire is connected reliably.
running state
Start/stop function is normal;
No abnormal vibration, noise or odor during operation;
The smoke exhaust color is normal (it should be light gray or colorless, black smoke and blue smoke need to be checked).
Cooling and air intake and exhaust system
The radiator is not blocked, and the fan operates normally;
The intake filter is clean, and the exhaust pipe is free of carbon deposit or blockage.
3、 Record and processing
Each patrol inspection shall fill in the Generator Set Patrol Inspection Record Form, including time, parameters, abnormalities, etc;
In case of any abnormality, stop the machine for inspection immediately. If necessary, contact the professional maintenance personnel to deal with it. Do not run with the problem.
4、 Warm tips
Regularly replace the engine oil, filter element and other wearing parts (according to the maintenance cycle of the manufacturer);
The long-term standby unit shall be put into no-load trial operation for 15 – 30 minutes every month to ensure it is available at any time.
The risk of sudden failure can be significantly reduced and the continuity and safety of power supply can be guaranteed through standardized daily inspection.
